Service Description: The Adopt-A-Highway Program in Nebraska officially began in April of 1990, after it was adopted in the State Legislature. The program is currently sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT). In the past years, the Adopt-A-Highway program has grown to cover about one-quarter of the State’s 10,000 miles of roads and currently 900 groups have adopted a section of Nebraska roadsides as their own. The Adopt-A-Highway applications are designed to make it easier for the public to view adopted highway segments, as well as to make it easier for NDOT personnel to manage the program.
