This dataset has been maintained and modified adding new projects as approved. The data are derived from U.S. Census Bureau - 2010 Census Blocks that the Commission has identified as eligible for NUSF broadband deployment support (BDS), BDS for capped locations (BDS-CL), and non-BDS eligible blocks. Projects are attributed with approval date, household served, amount of funding requested, carrier, and the site name for the project.
Census Blocks per project area were identified for inclusion in a new NUSF 99 funded project and characterized as BDS or BDS-CL. The project information includes the number of households served as identified from the 2010 or 2020 US Census, or from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric (Fabric). The individual blocks were attributed with the site name and saved. These new projects were identified with incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) exchange boundary maps and dissolved on exchange name. Areas in competitor carrier exchanges and non-exchange areas were removed. The new projects were combined and attributed with total households served, total amount of funding requested, and approval date. As new groups of projects were approved these were appended to the dataset. The NUSF 99 funded projects were filtered to show fiber to the premises (FTTP) projects.

Projects for exchanges to build out FTTP were consolidated with prior FTTP funded projects. The earliest approval date was retained and funding was combined. The exchanges consolidated were: Grand Island, Schuyler, Minatare, and Valentine.
